Being a product designer, I am often confronted as a user by the hard reality of useless objects resulting from product design. Market-oriented design created strategic values, and has developed hand in hand with the economy. In some ways, it was a one-sided development resulting in the strong and the weak. However, from the standpoint of our own values and wealth, it is possible to reverse this situation. Especially in the provinces, with the diversity of nature, history, local color and personalities, it is possible to see new directions.

I believe that the process of facing reality and holding thorough discussions with others is indispensable. The keyword here is the public viewpoint. This is the basis of my design. For this reason, I am not very pessimistic about the present situation. The society is changing from competition to independence, and grounds for thoughts asking for what really matters are slowly establishing. As soon as we become aware of the difference between what is given and what we can create out of our own will, our hearts will leap with pride. To act freely without being tied down, to work together, laugh, talk and be touched — the essence of design is concealed in such normal yearnings. This is the message I want to communicate to the future as a designer.
